Walk The Line
2005
I was living in Dallas, writing music, and playing the occasional show. I had a good band comprised of greater friends and we were out to make it big. “Walk The Line”, the Johnny Cash bio pic, was released, I watched it in the theatre, and came out entertained. I liked it but had no idea what it really stood for. I still don’t really know for a fact what it stands for but I...

Rock The Jukebox
To help with travel costs I’m relaunching “Jukebox”. Request a song you’d like me to sing (mine or another artists), donate some cash, then I will record a video and dedicate it to you.
If you’d like to help go to www.paypal.com click “send money” then send to sweetworld@mac.com. I take donations anywhere from $5-$500. In the space provided write the...

A Phase
The last entry I wrote has been heavy on my heart the past 24 hours. I’m realizing (slowly) that I’m not discontent with my place in the art community by rather my place in the world. I wear the statement “Music is my life” like a t-shirt. Casual. I have no quams with the statement when the reality is that I should. I’ve refused to accept so many great things into my...
My Means May Be My End
I’m worn out. I fear the world is too big for me and my dreams. Write, play, sleep. That is my pattern and will be until I breathe no more. As exciting as that may sound it has become a prison. A cage I locked myself in before swallowing the key. Show after show, some good most not, I wonder if there is an end. Maybe life is only means with the end only found in glory with The Lord. So much...
I Think I Like You
Below is a link to a brand spankin’ new recording of my song “I Think I like You”. I recorded this two days ago at my good friend and fellow writer Brian Douglas Phillips’ Rattle Trap Studio.
I’m very proud of this song and how it has been translated into a recording. Take it, for free, and enjoy it. I get the feeling this tune has opened a new door in my mind and...
Noisetrade
I’ve had a big struggle in my career with this idea of “free music”. Questions like, “How do I make money to live?” or “How do I recoup the money spent on my record?” spread through my mind like wildfire. Money, especially in my line of work, is hard to come by so why would I make it harder on myself and give out my work for free?
Well I still...

The Confession Tour
My belief in God is not necessarily common knowledge. Many of you know me from my music and though this music may be laced with questions and hints regarding my faith in God, it is all still very vague. My relationship with Him has been full of twists and turns, ups and downs, and curses and praises. However this relationship is in fact very real.
I’ve detached myself in recent years from...
I'm Not Going To Add Green
As I wait for a video to compress, there are some thoughts I’d like to share.
I feel like I’ve reached a place in my career where I am forced to draw a line in the sand. A deep, long, noticeable line that sets apart the people longing to be entertained by me from the people that want to journey with me.
I am writer, and like most writers I have a story to tell; something I want...
Roll Credits
We started filming in Dallas on February 3rd and now, a month later, we are 5 days away from wrapping. We are 5 days away from completing a shoot for a movie. A movie!! I have a hard time initiating conversation about this film with people because it feels so foreign coming out of my mouth. Not only is the topic hard to discuss but it’s hard to communicate what kind of project we have on...

All The Same Things
If you’ve been following @ramirezdavid you’ve probably read my excitements as well as my frustrations. Making a movie is hard work but It has been a privilege to dip my feet into this business for the past week. Don’t worry, I’m not switching careers but I have switched my mentality.
Prior to the beginning of shooting I knew without a doubt that the music world was the...

Twitter aka Messiah of Social Networks
If you haven’t been paying attention, I love Twitter. Unlike Facebook, Myspace, and other social networks, with Twitter, we have finally decided to only friend/follow people we truly care about keeping up with. Twitter has plowed down the walls of popularity and begun building walls of interest. We only follow those we’re interested in. Now of course there are people with millions of...

Ryan Parker
Ryan Parker is one of the most passionate musicians I know. There are very few folks that care so much about their music that they will put in the leg work it takes to play and tour the country. With a full time marriage and a full time teaching/coaching job Ryan has done just that. He writes, records, plays, and tours and he does it well. He has the balls to approach bigger acts about opening and...

We’ve been on the road now for 5 days and I’ve already had the most unique tour experience of my life.
I’m used to touring. I’m used to the road. I’m used to long hours driving, late nights, early mornings trucking it to the next town. I’m used to having great nights and I’m used to having poor ones. I’m used to struggling for cash to make the next gig, eat my next meal, or to purchase my next...

These American Times
I was recently reacquainted with an old friend in Austin and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. If you’ve been following the blogs you’ll see that I’ve recently been dissatisfied with the music “business” and I’ve been in great need of a change. After a year of surviving off music alone I’ve realized that it’s not enough. I want more. I want less of myself and more community.
We live in...

People
It’s 5:59 am on Saturday morning and I just got in from hanging with one of my closest friends. There is nothing like sitting on a porch with a best bud, having a smoke, and talking life. Moments like these remind me that there is in fact a point to all this breathing.
I’ve always thought that if I found something that I was completely passionate about and pursued it with all my might I would be...
American Soil Pre-Release
The time has come and the time is now. You can officially pre-order “American Soil” right here on the website. Just visit the store and order away.
Just to clarify this is a PRE-RELEASE. You won’t actually receive the album until June 18th (the official release date). What my pre-release does is guarantee you a copy the very day that I let it out into the world. Order now and I will mail your...
Good To Be Bad
We are one month out from the release of ‘American Soil’. I just received the masters yesterday, artwork will be done this weekend, and I’ll be shipping it off to press next week. Get pumped!
Because this is such an exciting moment I’ve decided to give away two tracks for free. One right now and one at the end of the month. Please spread this around to your friends. I’m going crazy with free...

My Space
I guess I’m just in the mood to give shout outs because here is yet another blog filled with prop giving.
If you’re reading this blog then you are seeing my brand new website which launched about a month ago. This was put together by Charles Miller of First Platoon Design in Nashville. He just completed my myspace page and it looks fantastic.
This though brings me to another point. I hate saying...
Top Friends
There are so many people pursuing music these days it gets a little overwhelming. I’m really not a music listener so I can’t imagine what some of you go through just to keep up. I have my favorite artists and they are my favorites simply because they satisfy. If a new artist comes up that I happen to love they get inducted into the group but I don’t sit online all day looking for new folks to...
Monkey Ink Design
I’m convinced that I’ve found the best design company in the south. Monkey Ink Design, out of Nashville, is run by two phenomenal artists, Drew and Alicia. Alicia did the artwork for “Birmingham: An Acoustic EP” (which you can purchase for $7 in the store) and Drew has begun production on my latest full length “American Soil” which releases this June.
Not only have they been so easy to work with...

Potbelly
I’m desperately trying to live solely on my music. It’s a tough challenge but I will go through any and every avenue possible before getting a proper job.
And it’s not that I’m lazy (well not completely), but I need “the fear” that Chandler speaks so highly of to motivate myself to not give up.
With that said, know that I live everyday in complete terror!!
Anyway the current job that I just...
www.davidramirezmusic.com
After all these years I finally have a place of my own among the internets. I hope you feel good too.
Here is a quick breakdown of www.davidramirezmusic.com.
On this home page you will find everything you need to know. If I have a new CD coming out, a big show coming up, more thoughts on life, you will find it here. Very simple. I wanted to cut down on any digging that might have taken place so...
It's A Wonderful Life
I finished tracking last Friday. It’s seriously nuts how quickly this project came together.
I met Cason, via phone call, mid January and I was on my way to Nashville 2 weeks later. 5 days after that we were 90% done with the record. And 2 weeks after that it was complete.
Right now it’s at Shane Wilsons studio undergoing mixing and in a couple weeks we’ll send it to get mastered. Everything is...

Tweeting
So apparently I’ve been behind in the online social world. It’s come to my attention that “one of the fastest-growing phenomena on the internet” (New York Times) has crept right under my nose and free of my presence. If it weren’t for a friend I never would’ve given “Twitter” a second glance. Sure I’ve heard the name tossed around but I honestly thought it was an iphone app and since I’m not cool...

New Record
This past weekend I played at House of Blues in Dallas, TX. It was incredible. Thank you to everyone that showed up in the D/FW area. Because of you we sold out the room which made it a wonderful evening. I’ll be back in Dallas on March 6th at City Tavern (my favorite bar there in the big D) so I hope to see you guys out again for a great night of music.
I’ll post some pics from the HOB here...

Fluke
I’m never quite sure what to do with myself or my thoughts at the end of each year. I feel like I should give the last 12 months some though, celebration, maybe even some mourning but am immediately distracted by the song and dance on January 1st that welcomes the next 12. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy celebrating the coming months as much as the next guy but this time, this year, for 2008, I must...

Help Please
so as you guys might already know i just finished my first month out of the seven that i’ll be traveling the country. it’s been crazy. the last four weeks have proven to be more difficult as well as more rewarding than i could’ve imagined. this whole tour is really an experiment to see how far i can go without a label/booking agent/manager in a small amount of time; how far i can go on my own....
4 Weeks
i just realized that i’m three days shy of 4 weeks. 4 weeks of no income, 4 weeks of wondering how i’m going to eat, where i’m going to sleep, and 4 weeks of not knowing where i will be in the week following. so far, and i believe it will continue, the lord has provided for all of my needs. don’t worry this is not a note about how if we’re faithful god will provide because to be straight i’ve been...
Road Cam

all the videos i do will be under davidramireztunes on you tube so be sure to check that out as well.

It Begins
I’ve had the great pleasure of hanging in Birmingham for the past few days and believe me when I say this city is brilliant. I know, I know when I say Birmingham you conjure up all of these feelings you’ve been taught about Alabama and the south, and though those feelings may not necessarily be wrong, there are many beautiful things about this city/state, mainly the people, that are kept under...

The Road Calls
